Big Twin Racers - American Sport Bikes in a kit!

When we last wrote about Curt Winter’s Big Twin Racers, we showed you some in progress photos of his “Carver” prototype. Well Curt has come quite a way since then and has decided to offer his bikes in kit form for the builders out there who want to build a bike but can’t see themselves on a chopper. Curt’s bikes are definitely not choppers. These are sport bikes using the same V-Twins the chopper guys use, he just thinks handling shouldn’t be an afterthought. Curt says frame design would be standard but the customer could choose engine size, wheels and solo or two up seating. It would be shipped bare and unassembled, allowing the customer to paint and do all of the final assembly.
I think it’s a great idea and judging from these new photos of the completed bike, it might be just what the bike building market is looking for.
Curt’s built a number of bikes and is currently building a street going super moto powered by a Yamaha XS-650 twin.

I remember an outfit in San Francisco used to advertise a sportbike frame for HD type motors. I think they were called Comet or something like that. This was before Buell joined the HD company.
Looking at their website it appears they aren’t that close to retailing these kits yet. I’ll have to bookmark ‘em and see…

The San Francisco shop is called Mars and I followed that project
several years ago.The bike was shown at the bike show in San Mateo and then never really became a readily available kit.
The Custom Chrome HR3 kit is somewhat similiar though.
The Carver is lighter and shorter than both.

Brad Green is correct, this was shown at the San Mateo show only, to the best of my knowledge.
