Unexpected biodiesel hazards

May 31st, 2005 by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider"

As we move bravely forward into the era of alternative fuels, there are dangers that await. Picture yourself riding through a national park on your new diesel motorcycle and because you’re very “green” in your thinking, you use biodiesel to power your bike. Since biodiesel is often made from discarded cooking oil, the aroma trail your bike leaves is slightly reminiscent of cheeseburgers… Bears like cheeseburgers.

Here’s a fellow who uses biodiesel to power his Volkswagen Rabbit, who returned to his car to find the window smashed, the fuel container tipped over and paw marks all over. Just think if it had been a diesel motorcycle.

Let this be a warning.
