911 says “Too Bad”
March 24th, 2005 by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider"A Connecticut caller to 911 trying to get help for an injured motorcyclist gets the response of “Yeah, too bad” and then they hang up! The call was routed to the State Police barracks and was answered by Trooper Robert Peasley. Thinking they got a wrong number the caller tried again and the next trooper said “Yeah, help will get there. Shouldn’t be playing games.” A third call got a dispatcher who asked about his condition. The motorcyclist died.
So, what was the punishment for this behavior? A 15 day suspension. That’s fine to begin but if the investigation confirms these details, and no one denies them, then firing the trooper seems more appropriate in the very least. A fine and jail time? Hmm…
A while back I pointed out a police chat room where officers joked about an injured biker. That was off duty and on the internet. This was on duty on a 911 line, completely different. I’ll be interested to hear more details of this case.

I know that this officer and the officers in that aforementioned police chat room are the 10 percent that make the whole bunch look bad but with actions like these it’s not wonder bikers and law enforcement don’t get along. The cops blame us for being “rebels” or “wreckless” or what ever, and we just want them to do their jobs properly and professionally. Is that really to much to ask? And if they fail make sure the punishment fits the crime.

Has anyone else had a bad experience with 911? I once reported a drunk driver who “informed me” he had a gun and was trying to assault me with his vehicle. I managed to get to a block where I could dial 911. I knew the area of this city, but not well enough to know the street names, especially in the dark. The dispatcher was rude and retorted, there is more than one “Safeway” on that hill - referring to a grocery store/landmark I pointed out in an unmistakeable nieghborhood hill. It turns out, there was and still is only one store on that hill, so she should have been more helpful. I managed to get myself to safety without the help of 911. But, they failed to get officers to that location and remove a psychotic drunk f*cker from the wheel.
