Oxtar features roadracers as models

March 4th, 2005 by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider"

Ullis wearing Oxtar bootsThe Kneeslider’s European news bureau, (ok, I saw this on Susanne’s blog) picked up these new ads by Oxtar featuring their roadracing boots. Nice boots. The ads feature three roadracers wearing Oxtar boots and nothing else. This is advertising at its best since we don’t get distracted from the product by useless clothing and other items strewn around the room. I like it. Advertisers over here should pick up on this idea and use it on more of their products.

The three racers are Sete Gibernau, Johan Stigefelt and Ulrika Broden (pictured at right). Ulrika, a.k.a Ullis races a Honda 125 and has her own very pink web site.

Susanne’s blog, Team Ice Queen Road Racing, is pretty interesting, though it is entirely in Danish. I’ve followed a few of her links to some pretty interesting material. Susanne is also a road racer who began riding in 1999:

My first race bike was a Suzuki RGV 250. I changed it for an Aprilia RS 250, when I seriously blew up the engine, and last year I got a Yamaha R6.

Stop over and check out Team Ice Queen Road Racing. Tell her, The Kneeslider sent you.

Update: Susanne was kind enough to point out that Sete Gibernau is actually wearing XPD boots, not Oxtar boots as I had stated. That’s two companies using the same advertising idea. Is this a trend?

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for mentioning my blog. I must correct you though, that Sete Gibernau is not wearing Oxtar, but XPD boots. Have a nice weekend.

    Susanne
